Overview
In February of 2026, Nottingham will start marking the holy month of Ramadan. This will begin on the evening of Tuesday, February 17, with the first day of fasting on Wednesday February 18, which begins at dawn. Fasting will take place daily until the sighting of the new crescent moon, which determines when Ramadan will officially end. For members of the East Midlands Muslim community, this year’s Ramadan will take place in late winter/early spring, which means fasting hours will be shorter compared to summer time.

Conclusion
The Nottingham Muslim community is experiencing a very important change for the 2026 Ramadan season. It is going to be during late-winter, which means there are going to be very short fasting durations for the first time in years. Because Suhoor and Iftar are going to be earlier, the 12 to 14 hour fasting durations are going to be much easier to handle and there are going to be much better weather conditions. We are going to have the Nottingham Central Mosque, which is going to be a place for the community to come together for the last time to practice their fasting, and celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.
